The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) was introduced in 2016 after new research and feedback from member schools demonstrated that early years settings needed their own curriculum to meet the needs of children at such a crucial stage of development. At Lily Valley Preschool, the children will begin their learning journey with different units of learning around (IEYC) central themes, linking learning strands and learning goals from Singapore’s NEL Framework.
The IEYC uses international best practices, holistic enquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development of young children.
IPC Curriculum Outline for 5 to 6 years old
Our team of educators will be embarking on the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) which was first introduced by Fieldwork Education in 2000. The framework model provides children from 5 to 6 years old with subject goals, personal learning goals and uniquely, international learning goals. These goals are defined for each age phase.
The IEYC is built around four Learning Strands that underpin all learning and development:
Independence and Interdependence
Communicating
Enquiring
Healthy living physical wellbeing
All 18 IEYC units of learning has been carefully designed around a central theme, holistically linking all four Learning Strands to relevant and engaging activities that can be adapted and extended to meet individual and the children’s needs.
